One of my favourite patterns, taken from Hetty Munro and Rae Compton’s Book, They Lived By The Sea. It was worn by Donald Thomson of Thurso, skipper of the boat The Children’s Friend in 1912. The combination of double cables, diamonds and chevrons make for a particularly rich pattern, and the light catches the angles of the chevrons most effectively (though the double cables do pull the chest and sleeves in a bit). This gansey is knitted in Frangipani damson yarn.
