Another version of my favourite pattern of all, this time in cream wool. You can see the highly intricate pattern more clearly here than in the navy blue version, with a good view of the cable going all the way up the sleeve from cuff to collar. Note also the “plain border” welt instead of the usual ribbing, in this case a simple garter stitch.
The rocky beach in the background is Kilve, on the north Somerset coast.
As a knitter I have 2 gansey, however they were completed straight from a pattern. Do you have a pattern for the lovely cream gansey?
Hi Pauline, I think we have the chart for the pattern on one of our other gallery pages, but no, I’m afraid I’ve never seen it as a written-out knitting pattern, sorry.
I’ve never used a written-out pattern, and don’t understand them if I try. Working with charts is really very easy, and I’d be happy to offer advice if you felt like giving it a go?
